An Internet Connection for Hourly Workers, Employers

.
STAMFORD, CT (January 2, 2001)- For several years now, the Internet has changed the way America looks for work. Up until now, however, the benefits of faster connections between employer and worker have gone to career seekers and other professionals. Hourly workers in search of a seasonal or part-time job for the most part are still looking for that welcoming sign in the window.

Looking2Hire.com will change all that. The Stamford, Connecticut-based Web site will launch a new community January 2, 2001 that will join employers and a network of newspaper classifieds to bring the power of the Internet to the hourly and seasonal employment market. "Our site is not a career site, it's a place for people to come to find a job," says Bruce D. Budnik, president of Looking2Hire.com.

By targeting hourly workers, Looking2Hire.com offers a distinct advantage over the massive job boards that prevail over the Internet. There are more than 75 million people in the site's target market, Budnik notes, most of them college students, seniors and other impassioned workers looking for work within their own neighborhood. Most of these workers don't have a résumé, and most eventually will fill out an application. A key feature of the site allows workers to fill in a single application that is distributed to every employer, much as résumés are distributed on career sites. This way, the employer receives an easy-to-read application and the potential employee needs to fill out their information only once.

Employer advantages
The advantages for employers don't stop with the application:

  • The cost of newspaper advertising typically prohibits extensive job descriptions in a classified situation. By advertising its space on Looking2Hire.com, an employer can extol the virtues of their institution within their much larger Web space. Ultimately, institutional video advertising will allow employers to describe the working atmosphere and company benefits to potential employees.
  • A national company can advertise its openings all over the US in a single Looking2Hire listing. Potential employees can search for a job by their own zip code or a zip code where they are seeking employment.
  • The same space that recruits potential employees can also recruit potential customers for a business.

Job Seeker Advantages
Employers are not the only ones who get advantage from the Looking2Hire.com system. Job seekers will be part of a greater community while their application is on file at Looking2Hire.com:
o Instead of wasting time searching the neighborhood for "help wanted" signs, job seekers can search the Looking2Hire.com database by type of job, location, term of employment or other factors.

  • Job Seekers can carry a Looking2Hire.com membership card that identifies them to an employer and can be used as an access method for their application.
  • Being part of the Looking2Hire.com database entitles job seekers to discounts and services from affiliated companies.
